MindMaze is a spin off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) and in less than three years has become one of the top 10 healthcare start-up in Switzerland. The company brings together an eclectic mix of computer scientists, neuroscientists, physicists and roboticists driven by a passion to enhance the quality of life of brain injury survivors.
The MindMaze headset offers sophisticated technologies like integrated motion capture, 6 degree head tracking and electroencephalographic (or EEG) scans.
MindMaze kick-started its own business by developing products for enterprise usage, and specifically for the healthcare industry. One application is for helping patients who have suffered brain injuries (eg through strokes or other incidents) retrain their bodies to work again.
MindMaze is developing both hardware and a software solutions to create virtual reality experiences by tapping into advances in computer vision, neuroscience, AI and haptics. In February of 2016, the company raised a $100 million round of funding at a pre-money valuation of $1 billion.
